MYRTLE BEACH JET SKIING FOR THE NEWBIES

Myrtle Beach offers a plethora of water activities such as deep-sea fishing, dolphin watching, and jet skiing. Among these, jet skiing stands out as one of the most exhilarating and popular activities. If you are planning to try this sport for the first time, it is natural to feel a bit anxious and uncertain. So how do you ride a jet ski? What are the ways to enhance your speed, how to stay safe in the water, and more. However, there is no need to panic as this guide will provide you with all the information you need about Myrtle Beach jet skiing.

Getting Started with Jet Skiing

The Importance of Planning

Planning is a crucial step before embarking on your Myrtle Beach jet skiing adventure. It saves time, money, and energy, ensuring that you have a seamless and enjoyable experience. Start by familiarizing yourself with the basic controls and functions of the jet ski. Make sure to check the weather forecast and choose a day with calm waters for your first ride.

Safety First: Preparing the Shut-off Clip

Before you set off on your jet ski in Myrtle Beach, ensure that the engine shut-off clip is securely attached to your waistline. This safety feature ensures that the engine shuts off instantly if you lose balance and fall into the water. Although the chances of falling are low, it is always best to be prepared for any situation. This precaution can prevent the jet ski from continuing to move away from you if you fall off.

Essential Gear: Life Jacket and More

Wearing a life jacket is non-negotiable when participating in any water sport. Even the most experienced swimmers wear them to ensure safety. Ensure that your life jacket is properly fitted and securely fastened before starting the engine. Additionally, consider wearing water-resistant sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun’s harsh rays.

Starting the Jet Ski

Begin by sitting comfortably on the jet ski rental in Myrtle Beach with both hands gripping the handlebars. Insert the key into the ignition and start the engine. Engage the throttle gently to get a feel for the jet ski’s response. Keep your speed at the slowest level, around 10 miles per hour, especially when you are near the coast.

Learning to Make a Turn

Making a turn can be challenging for beginners. Start by practicing turns at a slow speed. Lean in the direction you want to turn and gently apply pressure to the handlebars. Practice this maneuver several times until you feel confident in your ability to make smooth and controlled turns. Always be aware of your surroundings to avoid collisions with other watercraft.

Building Speed Safely

Once you are comfortable with the basics, you can start to experiment with increasing your speed. Move away from the coast to avoid obstacles and other riders. As you increase the throttle, you will notice the jet ski’s nose rising slightly above the water level. This is normal and marks the beginning of an exhilarating ride. Remember to keep your grip firm and your body balanced when Myrtle Beach jet skiing.

Myrtle Beach Jet Skiing Techniques

Handling Waves and Impact

As you gain confidence, you might encounter waves that lift the Myrtle Beach jet ski into the air for a few seconds. When this happens, slightly lift yourself off the seat to absorb the impact when the jet ski lands back on the water. This technique reduces the shock to your body and makes for a smoother ride.

Navigating Busy Waters

Myrtle Beach can get crowded with various watercraft, especially during peak season. Always maintain a safe distance from other jet skis, boats, and swimmers. Use hand signals to communicate your intentions to other riders and be prepared to stop or change direction quickly if necessary.

Understanding Local Regulations

Before hitting the water, familiarize yourself with local regulations and guidelines. These rules are in place to ensure everyone’s safety. Make sure you have the necessary permits and licenses for Myrtle Beach jet skiing. Adhering to these regulations not only keeps you safe but also ensures the enjoyment of all water enthusiasts.

Myrtle Beach Jet Skiing: Sharing the Fun

Riding a jet ski rental can be a fantastic activity to share with friends and family. If you are confident in your skills, consider taking a passenger along for the ride. Ensure they are wearing a life jacket and brief them on safety protocols. Sharing the experience can make the adventure even more memorable.

Jet skiing is a thrilling and enjoyable activity that can be safely navigated by beginners with the right preparation and practice. By following these tips and choosing Action Water Sportz, you can ensure a fun and safe experience on the waters of Myrtle Beach.

Debunking Crazy Myths About Jet Skiing

Jet-Ski-Rental-Myrtle-Beach-SC-300x199.jpgMost of my summer vacations are spent in Myrtle Beach jet skiing. I can confidently say I know a few things about jet skis and jet skiing. That’s why sometimes I can’t help but laugh about some of the things I hear people saying about jet skiing. Just by listening to both locals and vacationers, I can always tell that either they are a bit misinformed or that they simply have no idea what they are talking about.

Incredible myths about jet skiing

Jet skis are mere toys Although riding a jet ski is all about relaxing and having fun, a jet ski is definitely more technically advanced than just a mere toy. And operating one is serious business that requires strict adherence to all the safety rules of boating safety. Jet skis, just like any other recreational watercraft requires high standards of safety and etiquette. Action Water Sportz always sends a guide with every group of jet skiers. They have a high regard for not only their customers but also for the machines they are riding. The guide's purpose is to ensure that everyone has fun and stays safe at the same time. Bugs and sunburns are a put-off  I heard someone say that a jet ski will not protect you from the sun. That’s true, it won’t. But should that stop you from enjoying yourself? There is sunscreen to protect you from the sun. As for the bugs, they can’t follow you all over the place. Plus you can really help yourself by riding with your mouth closed! Surely, that’s not too much to ask, is it? They are way too noisy Granted, jet skis were quite loud in their early days. But times have changed and technology has advanced. Thanks to technology, a lot of the engine noise has been suppressed. Unless one is wave jumping or playing around with the jet ski, its noise is not too much at all. Jet skiing is an extreme sport Nothing could be further from the truth. The fact of the matter is that jet skiing is just as fun as any ground-based sport. So is the process of learning to manipulate a jet ski through the water at a considerable speed. Jet skiing is also safe as long as all the safety rules are followed. Our guides will review all of the local rules prior to leaving the dock. They ensure everyone is wearing the proper safety equipment and understands the operation of the personal watercraft. Riding through water waves with your hair blowing in the wind is such a thrilling experience that I would recommend anyone to try. (5) Too many waves and wake Jet skis don’t make tsunamis on the water. Jet skis leave behind much smaller wakes compared to much larger boats and cruisers. They only produce wakes created by the engine propulsion and nothing more. And the wakes disappear in a matter of seconds. Even though a jet ski produces a smaller wake, you need to adhere to the local no-wake zones. (6) Jet skiing is all about getting wet This misconception has been fuelled by manufacturers’ promotional videos and brochures that show guys on jet skis getting sprayed and splashed with water. I personally don’t mind getting wet, especially on a hot summer day. The truth is that on a jet ski, you will only get wet if you want to, or unless someone else accidentally soaks you. Bottom line If you are looking forward to enjoying a jet ski ride for the first time, don’t get caught up in all the myths and misconceptions out there. Jet skiing in Myrtle Beach is an enjoyable, if not the most enjoyable, activity that you will most likely love.

Safety Guide To Enjoy Your Myrtle Beach Jet Ski Rental

Myrtle-Beach_Jet_Ski-300x199.jpgIf you haven’t experienced the thrill of Myrtle Beach Jet skiing, you are really missing out. A jet skiing adventure on Myrtle Beach is one of those experiences I wouldn’t trade for the world. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned jet skiing pro, the Action Water Sportz always has you covered. Their standards are consistently high and every other time feels like a new experience.

Jet Ski Tips from the Pros

Here are some Jet Ski renting tips for everyone looking for a memorable jet skiing experience:
  • Plan in advance
It’s always good to be sure that there is a jet ski waiting for you before embarking on your vacation. This is the best way to avoid all the troubles that come with a last-minute rush. Run through all the available options and find the perfect fit for you and yours.
  • Compare prices
Different rental shops have different prices. Each shop will also include different components in each package. Morning rates are generally lower compared to afternoon rates in most places. You might also want to check if the quoted price includes life jackets, gas, and insurance. At Action Water Sportz everything is included in the price, including a certified guide to ensure your safety.
  • Check the rental requirements
Every rental agreement has to include certain items in the package. These include an on-water demonstration and pre-rental instructions on how to operate the jet ski. It is also important for safety instructions to be displayed properly on the jet ski.
  • Avoid returning your jet ski late
Jet ski rental agreements usually have time stipulations. In many cases, you will be charged for the extra hours if you are late in returning the jet ski, depending on the stipulations of your agreement. At the same time, it is not safe to operate a jet ski 30 minutes after sunset or 30 minutes before sunrise as you may not be visible to boaters.
  • Remember to wear a life jacket
A proper life jacket is very important when jet skiing. In fact, it is a requirement in most rental locations, including Myrtle Beach. Jet skis also have a cutoff switch lanyard that riders should attach to their clothing or life jackets. This helps shut off the jet ski’s engine in case one falls off while riding. It’s always good to arrive at the rentals early. For rookies, this is the best time to watch a brief safety demonstration before hitting the waters. It is also the time to take a look at all the rules and regulations. These include speed limits and no-wake zones among others.
  • For more experienced jet skiers
If you have enough jet skiing experience and feel like being a little more adventurous, you may want to use a stand-up jet ski if there is any available. A stand-up jet ski is good for performing extra tricks maneuvering faster in the water. Here are some things to avoid when jet skiing:
  • Don’t jump in the wakes or path of passing boats.
  • Don’t capsize the jet ski as this might cause flooding of the engine.
  • Don’t ski too close to other watercraft.
  • Don’t over speed as may lead to accidents and mishaps.

It is not too early to reserve your Myrtle Beach Jet Ski for the 2017 summer vacation season.
